Please note that Dr. Premo is out-of-network with all insurance companies. She does not bill insurance.
To find out if you have out of network benefits (more common in PPO plans), reach out to your insurance company at the phone number on the back of your insurance card to learn more about your specific benefits. If you do have out of network coverage, here are some helpful follow-up questions to ask. Remember: all insurances are different.
  •  Ask if out of network services have a different or separate deductible and out-of-pocket maximum than in-network coverage.
  • Ask if out of network services have a coinsurance or copay that specifically applies to the cost of seeing a PhD Clinical Psychologist providing telehealth psychotherapy, with billing code 90837.
  • Dr. Premo can provide a “superbill” to you, for you to submit to try and seek reimbursement from your insurance.
  • Full session payment is due at time of service, and you may need to wait weeks for reimbursement from insurance.
  • Please note that insurance usually requires a billable diagnosis for coverage.

Why Pay Privately?

Session rates are determined by many, many factors including but not limited to cost of education and training, years of experience, insurance reimbursement for out of network clients, and business overhead. Many clients view their sessions with Dr. Premo as an investment in a specialist who can address specific issues that other clinicians are often not trained in or experienced with.
Private pay means a client reimburses their therapist directly, there is no insurance involved. Clients often enjoy the privacy that private pay therapy provides: there is no need to justify why you are coming to therapy to anyone else. A clinical diagnosis is not needed to qualify for treatment with private pay (but Dr. Premo is qualified to diagnose or rule out a range of conditions if this is something you are seeking).

In order to be a great therapist and a true specialist to her clients, a substantial amount of continuing education, training, consultation, and supervision outside of client session time is needed. She would much rather be learning more how to be the best possible therapist than be stuck on the phone with customer service.

That said, Dr. Premo understands the range of factors and circumstances that limit access to services. She offers sliding scale/reduced fee options for private pay, student, and senior clients when available, and offers clients with out-of-network insurance benefits a superbill.
